KANYE PHASE IV – PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT INFRASTRUCTURE 

The road infrastructure project entails the Design, Contract Documentation and Construction Supervision of Roads, associated Storm Water Drainage, and Drainage Channels in the Village of Kanye the headquarters of Southern District Council in the Republic of Botswana. The project was initially designed to cover a total road network comprising of Industrial, Village and CBD roads but construction is currently undertaken in two separate stages namely:
 
Stage 1 Works –Construction Supervision (Complete)
The construction to bitumen standard of 32km of Internal Roads and Associated Storm Water Drainage in built up areas of the Settlement and CBD and the new greenfield Industrial Area of Kanye Village. The works also included of the construction of a newly-paved 10,000 sq m Bus and Taxi Terminal and 1.6km of a Relief Drain.
 
The Installation of Street Lighting is currently underway.
 
Stage 1 Construction Works – CBD Roads
 
Stage 2 Works –  New Designs & Design Review (Ongoing)
The pre contract stage for Stage 2 Works is currently ongoing and consists of service provider and property relocations. Also underway is the Design Review of 28km of roads as well as the design of new roads to surfaced standard, drainage channels and a bridge.


Stage 2 Construction Works – Proposed Road Upgrade and Bridge Site
 
When complete, the infrastructure project will have provided the Village of Kanye a total of 60km of roads to surfaced standard with street lights, 4km of relief drainage complemented with improved transportation structures at a cost of R 150M.
